This slow cooker beef and broccoli is an easy, set-and-forget recipe with tender beef in a rich, savoury sauce, finished with broccoli. Perfect served with rice or noodles, it’s a simple family-friendly meal with classic takeaway-style flavours.
Make the sauce: in a jug or bowl, whisk together the beef stock, garlic, soy sauce, sugar (or alternative), and sesame oil. Pour over the beef and stir.
Put the lid on and cook on HIGH for 4 hours, or LOW for 6 hours, or until the beef is tender.
To thicken up the sauce stir in some cornflour by removing approximately 60ml of sauce from the slow cooker. Stir in 2 tbsp of cornflour and whisk with a fork until smooth and there are no lumps, then stir back into the slow cooker.
Stir in the broccoli and cook for a further 20-30 minutes until the sauce thickens and the broccoli is tender. You can alternatively cook the broccoli seperately and stir it in to the beef just before serving.
Enjoy with rice or noodles and optionally garnish with some chopped spring onions and sesame seeds.

Notes
Note 1We tend to use 1kg of diced beef as we find that better feeds 4 of us - especially as 2 have quite large appetites! You can however reduce the amount of beef - to between 500g and 750g and it will still be enough to serve 4. I would keep all other measurements the same.
