Bread Maker Pizza Dough

Making homemade pizza is even easier when you let a bread maker do the hard work. This simple recipe provided in the Panasonic booklet that came with the bread machine, creates a soft, elastic dough that’s easy to stretch and shape — perfect for making your own pizzas at home.

Whether you’re cooking your pizza in a regular oven or a pizza oven (I used the Ninja Woodfire Pizza Oven), this dough forms the perfect base for all your favourite toppings.

What You Need to Make Bread Maker Pizza Dough

These are the exact ingredients as listed in the recipe guide that came with my Panasonic bread maker.

ingredients laid out for bread maker pizza dough - water, salt, yeast, olive oil and strong white flour

Dry Yeast

Use 1 tsp of standard fast-action dry yeast. If your Panasonic bread maker has a yeast dispenser, this goes in the top section (not in the main tin).

Strong White Bread Flour

Strong bread flour gives the dough its structure and chew. The recipe calls for 450g.

Olive Oil

Adds richness and helps create a lovely soft dough. Use 4 tbsp of regular olive oil or extra virgin for a slightly stronger flavour.

Salt

For flavour and dough control. The recipe is for 2 tsp.

Water

Use 240ml of room temperature water.

Making Bread Maker Pizza Dough – Step-by-Step

Step 1: Add Ingredients to Bread Maker

all pizza dough ingredients in bread maker tin

Add everything in this order:

  1. Yeast – into the yeast dispenser (if your model has one)
  2. Flour, Oil, Salt, Water – into the main bread pan

🔘 Choose Menu 25 (Pizza Dough Mode)
⏱️ This cycle takes 45 minutes, including kneading and proofing.

Step 2: Shape the Dough

Once the bread maker beeps:

  1. Lightly flour your work surface
  2. Tip out the dough and divide it using a dough scraper or sharp knife
  3. Shape into smooth balls — this recipe makes 2 pizza bases

Cover the dough balls with a damp kitchen towel and leave to rest for 10 minutes. This helps the gluten relax and makes the dough easier to stretch.

Step 3: Make Your Pizzas

Stretch, roll, or press each ball into a thin pizza base. You can go rustic or aim for a neat circle — up to you!

Top with:

  • Your favourite pizza sauce (we love using Mutti pizza sauce)
  • Plenty of grated mozzarella
  • Any toppings you like – from pepperoni to roasted veg to olives

How to Cook the Pizza

You can cook these pizzas in a:

  • Regular oven – preheat to the highest temperature (ideally 220–250°C)
  • Pizza oven – we used the Ninja Pizza Oven, which cooks in minutes

Tip: Use a pizza stone or steel for extra crispness. Preheat it thoroughly before sliding the pizza on.

Can You Freeze This Dough?

Yes! After the 10-minute rest, wrap each dough ball tightly in cling film and freeze.
To use:

  • Defrost overnight in the fridge
  • Bring to room temperature for 30–60 minutes before shaping and topping

Why You’ll Love This Bread Maker Pizza Dough

  • Effortless prep – let the machine do all the mixing and kneading
  • Perfect texture – soft, elastic dough that crisps up beautifully
  • Fast rise – ready in under an hour
  • Freezer-friendly – batch prep and save for busy nights
