Slow Cooker Pork Steaks In Maple Syrup

Pork steaks are the ideal cut of meat to cook in a slow cooker. When cooked on low and for a long length of time, the tough parts of the pork steak are broken down, making it really soft and tender.

Plus, the slow cooker keeps all the moisture in, so the pork doesn’t dry out. It’s a simple, foolproof way to get a delicious meal.

What You Need

I cooked my pork steaks in a basic sauce made by combining maple syrup, tomato ketchup and soy sauce.

  • 4 to 6 pork shoulder steaks
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 3 tbsp tomato ketchup
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 red onion

Making It

This is a really simple recipe to prepare. Start by mixing the soy sauce, maple syrup and tomato ketchup in a jug.

Next add some salt to the pork steaks and lay them in the slow cooker.

Then, sprinkle the chopped onions and crushed garlic over them.

Pour the sauce over the top and gently stir everything around so that the steaks are covered.

Place the lid on the slow cooker and set off on low for 6 to 8 hours. After this time the pork will be fall apart tender.

Serve with your favourite sides, we enjoy ours with some mashed potatoes and green vegetables 🙂
