Air Fryer Turkey Crown

If you want to serve a small turkey crown, using an air fryer to cook it is a great way to save some space in the oven without compromising on taste.

Read on to see how easy cooking an air fryer turkey crown is.

🛒 What You Need

Ingredients

  • Turkey crown
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Seasoning

Turkey Crown

I used a small turkey crown that I bought from Sainsbury’s. The weight was 1.6kg, which serves between 5 and 7 people.

Remember to check that the turkey crown will fit in your air fryer basket, making sure the top of the meat isn’t touching the heating element of the air fryer.

Turkey Seasoning and Flavours

You can simply use salt and pepper to season your turkey or use some of these ideas:

  • Dried mixed herbs – rub 1 tsp of dried mixed herbs over the skin.
  • Garlic butter – spread some garlic butter over the skin of the turkey crown or under the skin.
  • Optionally, stuff the crown with some bashed garlic cloves, quartered onions or lemon.

👩‍🍳 Making It

If you have a frozen turkey crown, leave it to fully defrost before preparing.

Step 1

Pat the defrosted turkey crown dry with some kitchen towel before brushing it with the oil. Add your chosen seasonings and rub it all over.

Place the turkey crown, skin side down, in the air fryer basket.

Set the air fryer off at 180°C and cook for:

  • 1.5kg – 50 minutes
  • 1.6kg – 55 minutes
  • 1.7kg – 60 minutes

Halfway through the cooking time, turn the turkey crown over.

10 minutes before the end, you can optionally lay some bacon rashers over the top of the turkey crown.

Check the turkey is cooked all the way through. The juices should run clear, and the turkey should be piping hot. It’s useful to use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. Turkey should have an internal temperature of at least 65°C – 70°C.

Step 3

Leave the turkey crown to stand for at least 20 minutes before carving with a sharp knife.
