How To Make Sweet Potato And Bacon Soup In A Soup Maker

The ingredients below are enough to fill a Ninja Soup Maker, but they can be adjusted to be made in any other soup maker.

The Ingredients You Need To Make A Sweet Potato and Bacon Soup

sweet potato and bacon soup ingredients
  • Sweet potatoes – I used 500g of chopped sweet potatoes. The consistency of the soup was perfect, not too thick or too runny – if you like a thin soup, reduce the amount of sweet potato.
  • Onion and garlic – I used 1 onion and 2 cloves of garlic.
  • Bacon – I used 100g of bacon lardons for the soup. I saved a few bits of bacon to fry separately to use as a topping (this is optional). You can chop up bacon rashers instead.
  • Smoked paprika – I used 2 tsp of smoked paprika.
  • Vegetable stock – I used 1 vegetable stock pot.
  • Salt and pepper – I didn’t add salt and pepper to this soup, but you can optionally season the soup at the end according to your taste.

Making The Soup

I prepared the ingredients by washing and chopping the sweet potatoes. I didn’t peel the skin as the soup maker blends everything so smoothly that I don’t notice when the skin is left on.

I quartered the onion and added it together with the garlic cloves to the soup maker and used the chop function.

If you are using a soup maker without this function, you will need to chop them up before adding them.

Add all the ingredients to the Ninja soup maker. I tend to add hot water to the soup maker to make sure that everything is cooked all the way through – especially for root vegetables – but you can add cold water if you prefer.

Set the soup maker off on smooth. At the end of the soup maker cycle, optionally season with some salt and pepper.

While the soup maker was busy making my soup, I fried some bacon bits to add as a soup topping.
