These Hoisin Salmon Bites are one of those recipes that feel a little bit special but couldn’t be easier to make. Tender chunks of salmon are coated in a sweet, savoury and slightly spicy hoisin glaze, then cooked in the air fryer until perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy in the middle.

Ingredients You’ll Need
(Exact quantities are in the recipe card below.)

- Salmon fillets – optionally remove the skin and cut into bite-size chunks
- Hoisin sauce
- Soy sauce (or light soy)
- Honey
- Fresh ginger (or ground ginger)
- Sriracha – optional, but great for a gentle kick
- Sesame oil – optional, but adds a lovely nutty finish
How to Make Hoisin Salmon Bites in the Air Fryer
This recipe really couldn’t be easier. Start by mixing the hoisin sauce, soy sauce, honey, ginger, sriracha and sesame oil together in a bowl until you have a smooth, glossy sauce.

Add the salmon pieces and gently toss them through the sauce so every piece is nicely coated. There is no need to be too precise here as it is a very forgiving recipe. Optionally reserve some of the sauce to brush over the salmon bites at the end of the cooking time.

Arrange the salmon bites in a single layer in the basket. I put them on a silicone mat (with holes) in the air fryer to reduce the amount of clean up, but they can go directly in the basket. Cook until they are sticky and caramelised on the outside, while still tender and juicy inside.
To finish, spoon over any extra sauce from the bowl and enjoy straight away.

Serving Suggestions
These salmon bites are incredibly adaptable. Try them:
- With steamed jasmine or basmati rice
- Tossed through noodles with spring onions
- In wraps or flatbreads with crunchy salad
- On top of a grain bowl with edamame and cucumber
- As a sharing plate, finished with sesame seeds and spring onions

Tips & Variations
- Don’t overcrowd the air fryer – cook in batches if needed for the best caramelisation
- Prefer it milder? Reduce or skip the sriracha
- Love heat? Add extra sriracha or a pinch of chilli flakes
- No fresh ginger? Ground ginger works perfectly
- Swap honey for maple syrup if needed
Storage & Reheating
- Fridge: Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days
- Reheat: Air fry for a few minutes or gently reheat in a pan
- These are best enjoyed fresh, but leftovers are great in lunch bowls the next day

Ingredients
- 4 salmon fillets cut into bite-size pieces
- 3 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tbsp soy sauce or light soy
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 tsp fresh ginger grated (or ½ tsp ground ginger)
- 1 tsp sriracha more or less to taste
- 1 tsp sesame oil optional
Instructions
- Add the hoisin sauce, soy sauce, honey, ginger, sriracha and sesame oil to a bowl and mix well to combine.
- Add the salmon pieces and gently toss until they are evenly coated in the sauce. Optionally reserve some of the sauce to add at the end.
- Arrange the salmon bites in a single layer in the air fryer basket, leaving a little space between each piece. Cook for 8 to 10 minutes at 180°C, turning once if needed. Check they are cooked through, if not, return to the air fryer for a further 2 minutes.
- Spoon over any remaining sauce from the bowl and serve straight away.
Notes
- Removing the skin is optional, I prefer to leave the skin on as it crisps up nicely in the air fryer.
- Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket. Cook in batches if needed for the best caramelisation.
- For a milder version, reduce or omit the sriracha.
- These salmon bites are delicious served with rice, noodles, in wraps, or as part of a bowl with crunchy salad.
- Best enjoyed fresh, but leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 days and reheated in the air fryer.
