If you’re looking for a simple, comforting soup that uses everyday ingredients, this carrot and celery soup is a lovely one to try. It’s light but warming, gently spiced with cumin, turmeric and ginger, and perfect for an easy lunch.

What You Need
Below is a quick overview of what you’ll need. Scroll down to the recipe card for the full ingredient list and exact measurements.

- Onion
- Garlic
- Carrots
- Celery
- Ground cumin
- Ground turmeric
- Ground ginger
- Vegetable stock
- Salt and black pepper
How to Make It
Start by roughly chopping the onion, carrots and celery. There’s no need to be too precise, the soup maker will blend everything smooth at the end.
Add the chopped vegetables to your soup maker jug along with the crushed garlic. If you are using a Ninja soup maker you can use the chop function to chop up the onions and garlic. Sprinkle in the cumin, turmeric and ginger, then pour in the vegetable stock.

Select the smooth soup function and let the soup maker run its full cycle. It will cook and blend everything automatically.

Once the cycle has finished, lift the lid carefully and check the consistency. If you prefer a thinner soup, simply stir in a little extra hot water or stock until it’s just how you like it.
Taste and season with salt and black pepper as needed before serving.

Variations & Tips
- Add a pinch of chilli flakes for a gentle kick.
- Stir in a splash of coconut milk at the end for a creamier finish.
- Swap the cumin for curry powder if you’d like a slightly different flavour.
- Add a small potato if you prefer a thicker, more filling soup.
Storage & Reheating
- Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
- Reheat gently on the hob or in the microwave, stirring halfway through.
- If it thickens in the fridge, simply add a splash of water or stock when reheating.
- This soup freezes well for up to 3 months.
