If you love the flavours of Marry Me Chicken (creamy garlic, sun-dried tomatoes, and Italian herbs), you’re going to adore this chunky, comforting soup version made right in your soup maker.
It’s got tender chicken, orzo pasta, and a rich broth that you can keep light or stir in cream for extra indulgence, this recipe is perfect for filling lunches or easy dinners — especially when served with a warm roll or garlic bread for dunking!
Whether you’re using a Ninja Soup Maker or a similar model, this version is made on the Chunky setting and finished with your choice of cream at the end.

What You Need To Make Marry Me Chicken Soup (in a Soup Maker)
Note: Scroll to the recipe card at the bottom for the ingredients quantities and full detailed method.

Chicken Breast or Thighs
Use around 300g of boneless chicken breast or thighs, chopped into small pieces. Thighs are juicier, but both work well. If you are using a Ninja Soup Maker you can add the chicken raw to the jug, if you are using a different model you will more than likely need to use cooked chicken, but check with the instructions that came with your soup maker.
Orzo (or Small Pasta Shells)
Orzo gives a lovely texture to the soup, but any small pasta works. Pasta shells or macaroni are great substitutes.
Onion and Garlic
One medium onion and 3 cloves of garlic. Put them in the Ninja soup maker and use the chop function to slice them up.
Sun-Dried Tomatoes in Oil
Roughly 6–8 pieces, chopped.
Chicken Stock Cube or Pot
Use your favourite chicken stock pot or cube. You’ll top up with boiling water to reach your soup maker’s max fill line (usually 1.3–1.4L).
Dried Mixed Herbs
A teaspoon of Italian seasoning or dried mixed herbs (like basil, oregano, thyme).
Salt and Black Pepper
Season to taste — especially after cooking and stirring in your creamy add-ins.
Creamy Options (To Stir In After Cooking)
- Indulgent version: 100ml double (or single) cream + 30g grated parmesan. This will make a rich version, it’s very tasty but if you want a lighter soup go for the next option (or don’t add anything at all).
- Lighter version: 2 tablespoons of light cream cheese or soft cheese.
Making It
Start by layering the ingredients into the jug. I usually go in with the chopped onion and garlic first, followed by the sun-dried tomatoes, chicken pieces, orzo, dried herbs, and a stock cube or pot. There’s no need to pre-cook anything.
Next, top it all up with boiling water or hot stock until you reach the max fill line (usually around 1.3 to 1.4 litres, depending on your model).
Pop the lid on, select the ‘Chunky’ setting, and let it bubble away for 30 minutes.

Once the soup’s cooked, it’s time to stir in your chosen creamy extras while it’s still nice and hot. The cream or cream cheese melts straight in and turns it into a really filling and comforting soup.
If you prefer a lighter soup skip adding in the cream or cream cheese, it’s still a substantial and filling soup with the chicken and orzo.
